Israel Aerospace Industries is introducing the RoBattle, a new modular combat robot
Israel Aerospace Industries has built a combat robot vehicle that is made of modular bits that can be switched out.
The machine called RoBattle can be used as an advance guard, as a decoy or for surveillance missions. Why? Because it uses a system that the manufacturer calls modular "robotic kit" made up of several components: vehicle control, navigation, RT mapping and autonomy, sensors and mission payloads. Since it has a modular design, the company can swap in parts depending on what a particular mission needs. For instance, it could either use wheels or tracks, and its payload could be anything from robotic arms and sensors/radars to remote-controlled weapons.
IAI is showing it off at the Eurosatory airland defense and security exhibition in France, which starts on June 13th. If you can't make it there, don't worry. The video below demonstrates some of the machine's skills, particularly its ability to cross rough terrain and even climb over walls.
Check out the teaser video below to learn more about its features and functionality and how awesome this robot would be if it could enter the Robot Wars TV programme which is set to restart sometime in the near future, says the BBC.
The RoBattle weighs in at 7 tonnes including 3 tonnes of payload and is powered by diesel engines takes the form of a 6×6 articulated vehicle that can also be equipped for with tracks and carries the Pitbull Remote Weapon Station mounted on the top.

Designed for modern ground combat, RoBattle is built to operate independently or to support manned formations with the most dangerous, extreme tasks that soldiers had to do before. Performing armed scout and advance guard, ambush and attacks that ‘stimulate the area’, or penetrate deep into contested areas, including deception (acting as a decoy), RoBattle formations are also designed to gather intelligence and surveillance covertly, and assist convoy protection.
IAI is introducing the RoBattle, a new combat robot it has developed. A member of a growing family of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV) that evolved from the company’s robotics center in recent years.
